Oftentimes Liela and I have parents ask us how to have family discipleship moments. It seems many have large complicated grandiose ideas that they need to do something like write a Bible study complete with Greek and Hebrew word studies and commentary.
My response is always the same. KISS. Thats right KEEP IT SUPER SIMPLE.
You dont have to have a Bible college education to disciple your children. Matter of fact, if you do have one, set that education aside for other opportunities and KISS. You dont have to have deep theological discussions. And why reinvent the wheel? There are a lot of really good ready made discipleship resources available where people have already done the leg work so you dont have to. All you have to do is make it a priority and allocate time.
Last week we talked about catechism and the New City Catechism which gives you 52 questions and answers you can do once a week to develop spiritual formation in your family.
This week we share with you another once a week opportunity: 52 Creative family time experiences by Timothy Smith. The subtitle of this book is “fun ways to bring faith home”
This book has some seriously fun ideas, some super simple ideas and even some take a trip and talk about Jesus kind of opportunities. The best part about this book: most all of it is done for you so it takes minimal prep to get right to it. To order a copy click HERE
I just snapped a couple pictures of one of the activities from our copy so you can see how these activities lay out:
