Mother’s Day. Mothers are so key in releasing Destiny. The prophet Isaiah declared: The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name. He made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow; in his quiver he hid me away. And he said to me, “You are my servant…” Isaiah 49:1-3 ESV
But what happens when you don’t have the fondest of memories of your mother? Does that mean God does not have destiny set in His heart for you? It absolutely does not. God says in Isaiah 49 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget…” We, unfortunately live in a culture of sometimes absentie parents, and for some of you today may not be a joyful celebration. That verse maybe today rings more true for you than you would like. And while God never desires for mothers, or either parent to abdicate their purposes in Him of raising godly children (Malachi 2:15) sometimes in this culture that is exactly what does happen, mothers forget who God has called them to be.
Fortunately God has made special provision for those whom wish this holiday would simply vanish. God says He will not forget you, He has engraved your name on the palm of His hand and He loves you dearly. (Isaiah 49:16) And God has called forth spiritual mothers and fathers (Titus 2) to step into your life if you will let them. God loves you today, you are His special prize, He is calling you forth to destiny. God sets the lonely into families (Psalm 68:5) sometimes in the natural sometimes in the spiritual through a church family and spiritual mothers and fathers.
Today I am thankful for mothers, but I am also thankful that God releases destiny even sometimes without biological mothers and fathers, through spiritual mothers and fathers and through His church.
